who are the brothers ?

Click on the category below for a first hand story and reflection questions.

...Brothers serve others through education.
Brothers commit themselves to giving a human and Christian education to the young, especially those in situations of poverty, according to the ministry which the Church has entrusted to them.
...Brothers live in community.
Together, Brothers share prayer, Mass, meals, and social time, as well as support and challenge each other to grow in their vocation.

...Brothers pray daily.
Brothers look on life with the eyes of faith so as to grow in their relationship with God.

...Brothers consecrate themselves to God.
Brothers minister to others through the daily witness of the vows all members of religious congregations profess (poverty, chastity, obedience) as well as through the two vows particular to their founding spirit (association for the service of the poor through education and "stability" in the Institute; that is, living in commitment to the Brothers as ministers officially recognized by the Church).

...Brothers live in the spirit and charism of a  long tradition.
Brothers live in the conviction that the Holy Spirit is manifested in a special way in the life, work and writings of Saint John Baptist de La Salle, their Founder (1652-1719), and subsequently in the living tradition of their Institute.

...Brothers share their mission in a global “Institute.”

Though serving in a local “District,” Brothers may be called to serve in one of over 80 countries of the world where they educate people.

...Brothers deepen their vocation
Each Brother takes responsibility for integrating within his own person the consecration to God as a lay religious that he professes and lives: an active life of faith and community which enlivens his service in the ministry of education, especially to those in situations of poverty.
